Jakarta (Indonesia Window) - Serving Muslims from around the the world in conducting worship in the holy land is one of the priorities of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Following a workshop held by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia, high-tech bus stations will be developed to serve pilgrims to visit the holy sites easier and more comfortable.

A report from Arab News quoted by Indonesia Window here on Wednesday mentioned that the workshop organized by the Ministry’s Undersecretary For Pilgrims Affairs explored plans to build terminals connected to the pilgrims' residences in Mecca.

The bus stations will provide departure and arrival schedules with modern technology to improve transportation services for pilgrims.

The service is part of the 2030 Vision of Saudi Arabia.

Deputy minister of transportation affairs at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Bassam bin Ahmed Ghulman explained that the bus station would use modern technology to schedule trips from Makkah to holy places by considering the pilgrims’ residences and their travel plans.

Meanwhile, Director General of Traffic Directorate Mohammed Al-Bassami said the study of the service was an important step in improving the quality of transportation services and updating the traffic model in the region.

The bus stations will also help reduce traffic and passenger congestion on the main roads that connect Makkah to the holy sites.

A bus schedule posted on electronic screens inside the pilgrims’ residence will help reduce transport times, save unnecessary expense and mitigate the environmental impact by raising the operation’s efficiency.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in cooperation with the King Salman Institute for Studies and Consulting Service at Majmaah University and the Art Development Center in Dubai, also organized a training program for 87 managers and supervisors.

The 14-week Rowad (pioneers) training program is part of the ministry’s plan to modernize its work environment and develop staff capabilities.
