Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Ministry of Industry has launched Indonesia Digital Industry Center (PIDI) 4.0 as a one-stop solution for implementing industry 4.0 in the country and the Indonesian Window 4.0 for the world.

"Alhamdulillah, although it was delayed due to the pandemic, we are finally able to launch this facility," Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said at a virtual launch event on Thursday (Dec. 2).

According to him, PIDI 4.0 runs five pillars. The first is conceptual design for showcases or exhibitions.

"PIDI 4.0 is a showcase to display how technology can create efficiency and increase productivity in the production line. This showcase is specifically focused on the food and beverage industry as well as automotive from the tier 1 industry in Indonesia," said the minister.

The second pillar is the capacity building which makes PIDI 4.0 a means to increase competence for top management, managers, engineers, and industrial workers.

The capacity building includes a combination of theory and hands-on experience practices to improve learning tracks covering specific topics according to the pin points in the industrial world.

The third pillar is the ecosystem, meaning that PIDI 4.0 builds and provides access to an exclusive network of the industry 4.0 ecosystem by involving institutions from Indonesia and abroad, among others those who are industrial users, technology providers, service providers, accelerators, as well as educational institutions and research and development institutions.

The fourth pillar is the delivery center. PIDI 4.0 provides assistance for companies in the transformation process from the discovery stage to the development stage (scale up) through field and forum services as well as a Do It Yourself (DIY) portal for company’s self-help.

The fifth pillar is engineering and Artificial Intelligent (AI) Center in which PIDI 4.0 holds two main activities, namely research brokerage and testbed (testing of new machines).

Research brokerage was developed by the company from the sales side to help investors and hedge fund managers find market opportunities and make informed investment decisions.

Minister Agus added that in order to accelerate the industry 4.0 adoption, the ministry is also developing PIDI 4.0 satellites located in polytechnic schools, vocational high schools, and industrial areas.

"These satellites function as a medium for generating human resources to become industry 4.0 transformation agents," Agus said.

Currently, as many as 20 companies have joined as partners in PIDI 4.0 ecosystem.

"I hope that PIDI 4.0 partners will help accelerate the transformation of industry 4.0 in Indonesia," the Minister of Industry said.
