Jakarta (Indonesia Window) - Saudia flights on the Jakarta-Jeddah route will be moved from the old King Abdulaziz International Airport to the new airport in Jeddah as of December 20, 2019.

The relocation of the airport is the sixth and final stage of the transfer process for Saudia flights which also include those from London (England), Lahore (Pakistan), Washington (United States), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Madrid (Spain) and Manila (the Philippines), said a source to the Saudi Gazette.

The relocation of Saudia flights from the old airport to the new airport will be carried out in stages until the end of 2019 after the national airline starts long-haul flights to Europe and America.

Meanwhile, the third phase of the relocation of Saudia flights from the old King Abdulaziz International Airport to Jeddah's new airport will begin on November 3, the local Al-Watan daily quoted the sources as saying.

The phase will include flights plying Athens (Greece), Rome (Italy), Frankfurt (Germany), Geneva (Switzerland), Munich (Germany), Milan (Italy), and Vienna (Austria).

While the fourth phase will begin in mid-November and will cover such destinations as Dammam and Qasim (Saudi Arabia), Cairo (Egypt), Khartoum (Sudan), Kuwait, Nairobi (Kenya) and Beirut (Lebanon).

The fifth phase will begin on December 10, including flights to Ankara (Turkey), Tunisia, Johannesburg (South Africa), Delhi and Mumbai (India), and others.

The remaining local flights will begin mid-November.

The new airport in Jeddah has previously begun operating through Terminal 1 to Alexandria and Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt), and Amman (Jordan) airports.

The flight transfer phase served by foreign companies from the new airport will begin at the end of the year and is expected to be entirely completed by the end of the first quarter of 2020.

Flights from Terminals 1 and 2 will begin at a later stage, and continue until the new airport in Jeddah reaches a maximum capacity of 100 million passengers per year.
