Special trains for farmers and traders constitute the Indonesian government’s breakthrough amidst the rapid development of national transportation infrastructure.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Amidst the rapid development of national transportation infrastructure,
the Indonesian government is making a new breakthrough that directly impacts the lives of ordinary people, namely special trains for farmers and traders.
This mode of transportation is designed not simply as a means of transportation, but as a new lifeline connecting agricultural products from villages to markets more quickly, cheaply, and efficiently.
Through
Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation and the country’s Railway Company, the people's logistics route was built as part of an effort to strengthen the national supply chain and reduce price disparities between villages and cities.
The program stems from the spirit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's administration to bring economic justice from the bottom up, the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat said on its website on Tuesday.
By utilizing the existing railway network, special trains for farmers and traders provide an efficient, environmentally friendly, and people-oriented transportation solution.
During a visit to Manggarai Railway Station in South Jakarta on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, President Prabowo also took the time to personally inspect the special train, which not only transports passengers but also crops, merchandise, and daily necessities.
The president stated that the new facility would reduce the burden on farmers and traders in the process of mobilizing agricultural products and business goods.
With a series of carriages adapted to transport fresh commodities such as vegetables, fruit, and other agricultural products, the service is expected to reduce distribution costs while maintaining product quality when they arrive at city markets.
"Yes, I checked. So they only pay for themselves. They don't have to pay for their merchandise. The seats are in two rows facing each other. The fare has probably already been set," President Prabowo explained after launching the Tanah Abang Baru Railyway Station in South Jakarta on the same day.
The initiative is part of the government's efforts to build an efficient and equitable logistics system so that all levels of society have access to safe, affordable, and efficient public facilities.
The special trains for farmers and traders will serve routes to areas such as Rangkasbitung, Serang, and Merak (all in Banten province), which serve as vital routes connecting agricultural centers and major trade areas.
The presence of the service is expected to be a significant milestone in strengthening food security and improving the welfare of small businesses in different areas.
More than just a train trip, the measure reflects the commitment of President Prabowo Subianto's administration to ensuring that national transportation development always supports the people, who are the backbone of the nation's economy.
