Batam, Riau Islands (Indonesia Window) –
The Indonesian Ministry of Trade, through the Export Center Batam, held an Export Program Socialization and Business Pitching activity in Batam city, Riau Islands province, as part of the Export Development Week, which took place from August 13–15, 2025.
The event, held on Friday (August 15), was the result of a collaboration between the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, the Export Center Batam, local administrations, and business players.
A total of 95 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the Riau Islands Province participated in the event.
The ministry’s Director General of National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi, hopes that the Export Center Batam will help bring more MSMEs to the export market.
"The activity held at the Export Center Batam is not just an educational forum, but also a concrete space to encourage exports based on innovation and the flagship of local products," Puntodewi explained.
She likewise emphasized that cross-sector support and collaboration are crucial foundations for creating resilient and adaptive new exporters.
"With continuous cross-sector support, Batam's MSMEs can advance to become competitive exporters and contribute to equitable national export growth," she said.
According to her, the Export Program Socialization marks the beginning of a joint effort to make Batam a center for globally competitive MSMEs.
"This initiative is not just a facility, but a collective movement that connects MSMEs, the government, and international partners to open opportunities for Batam's local products to go global," she said.
The MSMEs participating in the Export Program Socialization are both active exporters and
MSMEs exploring export market opportunities.
The activity provides an opportunity for them to gain a deeper understanding of export procedures, product certification, global market penetration strategies, and access to various supporting facilities provided by the Export Center Batam.
The Export Center Batam was inaugurated on August 1, 2025, by the Indonesian Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, and serves as an integrated service center.
This facility provides assistance, ranging from training and consultation to facilitating promotion and international market access.
Through a capacity-building approach, MSMEs are expected to be able to produce quality goods while understanding export procedures, certification, and global market penetration strategies.
"Through the Batam Export Center, we want to ensure that MSMEs are not only product-ready but also strategically and network-ready to compete in the dynamic export market," explained Puntodewi.
Business pitchingIn addition, eight business actors also participated in a business pitching session with Indonesian trade representatives in South Korea.
"The business pitching session is a strategic platform for MSMEs to expand their business networks, open up transaction opportunities, and introduce Indonesian products to the international market," Puntodewi noted.
Products on display included processed foods, textiles, handbags, spices, and crafts, she said, adding that the products displayed at the business pitching demonstrate the competitive export potential of the Riau Islands and reflect their rich natural resources.
Flagship regional products can strengthen national export performance, opening up investment opportunities and enhancing Indonesia's position in the global supply chain.
Puntodewi likewise encouraged business owners to take advantage of international promotional opportunities through the 40th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), which will take place from October 15–19, 2025, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), BSD, Indonesia’s Tangerang district, Banten province.
TEI is Indonesia's largest trade show, bringing together national exporters with potential buyers from different countries.
TEI is a gateway for MSMEs to showcase their best products to potential international buyers. Through this event, business owners can expand their networks, build international relationships, and secure long-term partnership opportunities," she pointed out.
Bian, owner of PT Najah Sejahtera, one of the business pitching activity admitted to gaining many new insights, especially regarding export activities.
"Through business pitching, we can introduce our products, including dried spices and crafts. This activity also serves as a strategic platform to evaluate our product shortcomings and adapt to global market needs, so we are ready to export our products abroad," Bian said.
Meanwhile, Rupiandi Jamil, President Director of PT Sambal Sijago, added that the business pitching activity was very beneficial, especially in opening up international business networking opportunities.
